Students and staff will get a trial run for the upcoming school year on August 2 when MCPS hosts a district-wide transition day.
The modified school day is intended to allow students to experience a school day, learn important practices and procedures, and have fun during the process.
Transition Day will begin at normal school time, but will release at 1:00 pm.
MCPS will provide transportation, although families may opt to drop-off and pick-up students. Please, make sure your child knows how they will be transported in the afternoon (bus or parent pick-up) and if you'd like your child to be dropped off at a different address in the afternoon, please send a note. Parents can contact the MCPS bus garage for questions about transportation: (270) 692-4150.
Students will also receive breakfast and lunch while at school on Transition Day.
While attendance is not required, MCPS Superintendent Chris Brady said he hopes families take advantage of Transition Day as a way to get students -- especially those who are transitioning to a new building -- acclimated to their schools for the upcoming year.
