Based on information from the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Marion County had an Incidence Rate at or above 50 for seven consecutive days from December 30 to January 5. This means that masks are required in MCPS for students and staff.
During the November 4, 2021 Marion County Board of Education meeting, the board amended the MCPS masking policy to the following:
When the Incidence Rate is below 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be recommended -- not required -- for students and staff.
When the Incidence Rate for Marion County is at or above 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be required of students and staff.
If the county’s Incidence Rate is recorded below 50 for seven consecutive days, masks will once again not be required. You can view the daily Incidence Rate map for Kentucky here.
You can view the entire MCPS Return-to-School Plan which includes the masking policy here.
