Marion County Public Schools has moved back to optional masking for students and staff.
Based on information from the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Marion County has had an Incidence Rate below 50 dating back to Friday, February 18. KDPH did not release data for February 24; however, given the county’s downward trending Incidence Rate, the decision was made to move to optional masking.
During the November 4, 2021 Marion County Board of Education meeting, the board amended the MCPS masking policy to the following:
When the Incidence Rate is below 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be recommended -- not required -- for students and staff.
When the Incidence Rate for Marion County is at or above 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be required of students and staff.

The move to optional masking also means schools will resume with the contact tracing procedures which were in place earlier this school year. In some instances, students who are identified as close contacts may need to quarantine. You can view guidelines on COVID-19 exposures here.
