Six Marion County High School juniors have been selected to attend the prestigious Governor's Scholars Program, a summer residential program for outstanding high school students from across the bluegrass attending.
Those students are: Charleigh Browning, Samuel Cecil, Mandy Courtwright, Jeb Hughes, Hayden Robbins, and Makayla Yates.
MCHS was allowed to submit six applicants, and as MCPS Student Leadership Specialist Laurie Followell explains below, this is the first time every local applicant was accepted.
According to its website, the Governor's Scholars Program, "strives to enhance Kentucky's next generation of civic and economic leaders."
Students will attend GSP on one of three college campuses: Centre College, Morehead State University, or Bellarmine University.
