Due to the ongoing renovation project, there will be significant changes to parent drop-off and pick-up procedures at Marion County High School. The school’s front circle -- where parent drop-off and pick-up has taken place in the past -- will not be available.
When dropping off students before school or picking up students after school at MCHS, vehicles will enter the main campus at the Area Technology Center (ATC) entrance. From there, vehicles will travel through the ATC parking lot, down the rear entrance toward Patriot Drive before entering the MCHS parking lot.
Drop-off and pick-up will take place at the new crosswalk behind MCHS. Vehicles will exit campus using the same route they entered -- through the ATC parking lot. Please do not exit campus through Patriot Drive as this is likely to cause traffic congestion.
In the morning, vehicles may be stopped before Patriot Drive to allow for bus traffic -- please watch for a staff member helping direct traffic.
In the afternoons, prior to pick-up, vehicles will be stopped before reaching Patriot Drive until all buses have left campus.
These changes only affect parent pick-up/drop-off; student drivers will use the main entrance (Knights Way) as they have done in the past.
WILL THIS BE THE DROP-OFF/PICK-UP PROCEDURE FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR?
This procedure will change when the new parking area in front of MCHS is complete. This portion of the renovation should be finished during this school year, but it is difficult to estimate a completion date.
STUDENT CHECK OUT DURING REGULAR SCHOOL HOURS (8:30-2:30)
If you plan to drop-off or check out your student during the school day between 8:30-2:30, please enter campus using Knights Way, which is the main entrance, and park in the bus parking area. You will enter MCHS through the back patio entrance.
