Happy Friday!! Have a great weekend!

Announcements from the Office
We will have virtual parent teacher conferences on October 26th and October 28th from 4:30-6:30. On Monday morning, I will email the link to sign up, and the link will be posted to our Facebook page. You click on the teacher you want to meet with, then choose your day and time and whether you'd like to have a Zoom meeting or a phone call. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask us.

When your child is absent, please send a note to school! If students do not have a note, it is considered an unexcused absence. Students can bring the note to Tonya Blandford at the front office when they arrive to school.

Report cards will be sent out next Thursday! Students will be given them in sixth period.

ESS - We are now able to offer bus transportation for students staying for ESS on Wednesdays! If your child needs to ride the bus, please contact Mrs. Bardin or Mrs. Wood before Tuesday afternoon so we can arrange transportation. Our ESS is 3:30-4:30 and the dates for next week are:
Monday - all subjects/grades with Mrs. Wood or math with Mrs. Bardin
Wednesday - all subjects/grades with Mrs. Wood OR math with Mrs. Bardin (bus transportation on this day)
Thursday - all subjects/grades with Mrs. Wood

Please remind your children to charge their device each night. They should bring their library books to school and be reading at least 20 minutes every night; they can trade for a new book before school or during library time.

Announcements from the Classroom
6th grade ELA - This week we reviewed the different types of conflict a protagonist might face in a story. Students have been working to analyze story summaries for conflict. Next week, we will move on to review the parts of a plot and how each part impacts the story.

6th grade math - We will begin our unit on exponents and order of operations.

6th grade Social Studies - We are starting a new unit on Egypt.

6th grade Science - We will continue our "Earth Systems" unit. This will include the rock cycle, water cycle, nitrogen cycle, carbon cycle, and ecosystems. Our Earth Systems unit test will be on Thursday, October 28th.

7th grade Social Studies - We are continuing to work on Unit 3: The Rise and Spread of Islam.

7th grade ELA - We finished our short story "The Monkey's Paw." We are currently taking a reading diagnostic test to help measure the students' understanding of standards. We felt it would be a good time for this since we are ending the first nine weeks of school. Next week, we begin the short story "The Lamb to the Slaughter." We are hoping to collaborate with the other 7th grade house next week using the new tent outside. Students may want to bring a jacket or sweatshirt with them.

7th grade Science - We started Unit 3 covering Reproduction in Plants and Animals this week. We also sent home science specific progress reports that list their current grade as well as any missing assignments. They need to be signed and returned no later than Monday.
