Marion County Public Schools is operating on a one-hour delay today, Monday, January 10 due to potentially hazardous driving conditions.
There will be no school in Marion County tomorrow, Friday, January 7 due to inclement weather. This will not be an NTI day. Please stay safe.
Based on information from the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Marion County had an Incidence Rate at or above 50 for seven consecutive days from December 30 to January 5. This means that masks are now required in MCPS.
During the November 4, 2021 Marion County Board of Education meeting, the board amended the MCPS masking policy to the following:
- When the Incidence Rate is below 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be recommended -- not required -- for students and staff.
- When the Incidence Rate for Marion County is at or above 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be required of students and staff.
If the county’s Incidence Rate is recorded below 50 for seven consecutive days, masks will once again not be required.
Due to anticipated inclement weather, tomorrow January 6 will be a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day in Marion County. Students will not report to school. Instead, they will access assignments online and teachers will be available to answer questions by e-mail or phone.
UPDATE: The COVID-19 Incidence Rate for Marion County has been at or above 50 for five (5) consecutive days. If this trend continues and the Incidence Rate is at or above 50 when information is reported for today (Jan. 4) and tomorrow (Jan. 5) then masking will be required in MCPS beginning Thursday, January 6.
We’re sharing this information with you now so that students and families are not caught off-guard if MCPS returns to required masking.
As a reminder, the MCPS masking policy is:
- When the Incidence Rate is below 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be recommended -- not required -- for students and staff.
