With new guidance from the Kentucky Department for Public Health regarding COVID-19, we want to make sure our families understand one of the important changes in the way we’ll communicate information about close contacts at school.
Although the new guidance from KDPH indicates that schools no longer have to complete contact tracing, it is recommended that families are notified when a student may have been exposed to a positive case at school.
Each day we’ll send out an automated message by email and text message to the families of students who were exposed at school. These messages will include the student’s first name -- that way, if you have multiple children in MCPS, you’ll know which one was affected.
Based on the updated guidance, these students do not need to quarantine, but KDPH does recommend that they receive a COVID-19 test 5-7 days following the exposure.
We also encourage all parents and guardians to have up-to-date contact information listed in Infinite Campus. If your phone number has changed or you have a new email address, please contact your child’s school so we can update that information in Infinite Campus.

Marion County Public Schools is operating on a one-hour delay today, Monday, January 10 due to potentially hazardous driving conditions.

There will be no school in Marion County tomorrow, Friday, January 7 due to inclement weather. This will not be an NTI day. Please stay safe.

Based on information from the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Marion County had an Incidence Rate at or above 50 for seven consecutive days from December 30 to January 5. This means that masks are now required in MCPS.
During the November 4, 2021 Marion County Board of Education meeting, the board amended the MCPS masking policy to the following:
- When the Incidence Rate is below 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be recommended -- not required -- for students and staff.
- When the Incidence Rate for Marion County is at or above 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be required of students and staff.
If the county’s Incidence Rate is recorded below 50 for seven consecutive days, masks will once again not be required.
