Marion County Public Schools has been back to optional in person learning a little over two weeks now! As a senior at the high school I have to say that at first I was very worried, there have been a lot of changes implemented. However, I believe that these changes have not only made our school safer and cleaner but an overall more positive environment. From the changing of the lunch line, the extra cleaning and the change from seven to four periods, my schedule feels so much more manageable and I feel that the school has taken every precaution to keep our students safe. Whether you choose to stay online or to come see the amazing staff in person, Marion County Public Schools is going to ensure your child the best education possible.

Had a great time visiting Marion County Middle School today. Thanks students, staff, and teachers for working so hard to make our school experience AMAZING! When we all work TOGETHER, a great district gets even better!
MCPS continues to work closely with our regional health department and we wanted to share an important letter on how confirmed COVID-19 cases are investigated, procedures for those identified as close contacts, and advice to slow the spread of the virus: https://5il.co/laij
Don't forget: Our first re-entry date for Distance-Learners who want to return to In-Person learning is Wed., September 23. Please contact your child's school if your child will be transitioning to In-Person learning.
The following is a message from the MCPS Transportation Department we emailed to families earlier today:
Parents,
Given the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we cannot currently allow what we historically have called "note riders" -- that is, students who bring a note in order to ride a bus when they typically do not use MCPS transportation. For example, a student would not be able to bring a note indicating that he/she will ride a bus to a friend's house on a particular day. In the past, we've been able to accommodate those situations, but with our current set of COVID-19-related health requirements, this is not possible.
However, we are able to work with families if a student who normally rides a bus needs to be dropped off at a different location. For example, some students may occasionally need to be dropped off at a relative's home.
As we continue to receive health-related guidance, we'll update our procedures and share that information with you.
Thank you and please stay healthy.
Reminder: Our first re-entry date for students currently enrolled in Distance-Learning is September 23. Please communicate with your school if your child plans to return to In-Person learning.
If you have a child enrolled in MCPS preschool, the following paperwork is required:
Certified Birth Certificate
Eye Exam Form
Dental Exam Form
Immunization Certificate
Medical Exam (physical)
If you haven't already, please turn these in at the MCPS central office or at your child's school.
We also ask that if you have appointments scheduled for these exams, please let your child's teacher know.

MCPS families:
With students returning to In-Person learning this week, we wanted to share with you how we'll communicate information about positive cases of COVID-19 among our students and staff. First, when we learn of a confirmed positive, we'll send an email to the families at the affected school with the appropriate information.
We'll also keep a record of all communications on our district website here: https://www.marion.kyschools.us/Content2/covid19
We won't identify students, staff members, or particular classes. Only those considered close contacts will receive a follow-up from the regional health department's contact tracers.
Also, keep in mind that our email database is based on information entered into Infinite Campus during online registration. Contact your child's school if you need to update your contact information.
For those interested in applying for GSP we’ll start sharing important resources next week!
